House cleaning price estimator

Count the rooms, pick the clean level, type your own rate. The quote updates as you go.

This uses the room-minute method from the pricing guide: minutes per room type, a multiplier for how dirty the job is, then your hourly rate. The minutes and multipliers are starting points — change them to your own pace once you have timed a few jobs.

Worked example

The numbers already filled in: 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and a living room, standard clean, $50 an hour, 16 miles round trip at $0.70 a mile, and 10% off because it is a recurring client.

LineAmount
Minutes: 3×20 + 2×30 + 2×25 = 170, ×1.0 for standard2.83 hrs
Labour 2.83 × $50$141.67
Travel 16 × $0.70$11.20
Subtotal$152.87
Discount 10%−$15.29
Quote$137.58

Switch the level to "Deep clean" and the same house becomes 4.25 hours and a $201.33 quote. That gap is why "it's just a bit dirtier" should never be quoted at the standard price.

How it's calculated

  1. Minutes = bedrooms × minutes per bedroom + bathrooms × minutes per bathroom + kitchen/living areas × minutes per area.
  2. Hours = minutes ÷ 60 × the level multiplier (1.0 standard, 1.5 deep, 1.75 move-out by default — edit the multiplier box to use your own).
  3. Labour = hours × your hourly rate.
  4. Travel = round-trip miles × your cost per mile. Use whatever your driving genuinely costs you; we do not bake in a rate because rates change.
  5. Subtotal = labour + travel. Quote = subtotal minus the recurring-client discount.

Not included: supplies and an overhead share per job. The guide covers both, and the paid calculator adds them, plus a minimum price floor.
